I have always not been a fan of "self acclaimed' dance hall king Shatta Wale but at least if on this course i am going to be victimized for being bias,then i really would support him cause this is a very huge step to be taken by a Ghanaian artiste in this direction and i think he is the first to take such an initiative.
Until, Ghanaians are able to manage their affairs and organize their own awards show then i think we always going to have problems with this so called organizing houses, how can we be in Ghana and allow foreigners to run our award show and after they take the profit made back to their country. Charter House has been known for organizing the Ghana Music Award shows for the past decade or so, but each year these shows are held there are always technical hitches or problems with the payment of Ghanaian artistes booked to perform on the bill for such programmes. But there is always the overlooking and overpayment of some foreign acts to perform or the programmes.
In the case of last charter house awards shows, Davido who was billed to perform for the night took an undisclosed amount which from sources closer to us, indicated he took a lot of money as compared to our Ghanaian artistes who performed on the show. But for one or two reasons Shatta wale was not able to perform on the night cause he demanded for a 'huge" amount as charter house will like to put it, which is even like half of the amount taken by these foreigners artiste made to perform.
This raises a lot of questions about the credibility of charter house in organising these shows , with allegations about whose supposed to win an award and those who were not supposed to be nominated . This raises a lot of eyebrows why some Ghanaian owned organising houses cant take up the bid in hosting the shows such organizers could be : 4SYTE TV , and a lot .
So the question is, What are the requirements for hosting such shows ?
